STACEY MACDONALD
Casey's Crushers
When one looks at the Casey's Crushers program and then they look up the word 'class' in the dictionary, it would not be surprising if the name Stacey MacDonald were to be included with it. This Otowa, born and bred Canadian lived and breathed ice hockey, as was the tradition, till he was about 14. Other interests pulled at him and he kind of drifted out of the hockey scene while he pursued a career, marriage and began a family. His work took him first to Tucson, AZ then to Phoenix. He then dusted off the ice skates, and began playing again at the Ice Den. Stacey's son, Alex, wanted to play like his dad, but there was no real league for his age. That was when \his ice buddy told him about a great local inline facility called Casey at the Bat where kids and adults could participate in organized inline leagues. He first began coaching youth rec teams at the Casey's facility and then he began coaching in the travel program. And even though the Crushers lower youth divisions have seen a significant resurgence in the last 4 years as a direct result of his coaching involvement Stacey is very clear about his values. In his words "I get so much out of the camraderie and friendships by being involved. What excites me more than anything about coaching is to see how much improved that these kids get by season's end than when they first started" With values such as these, Stacey MacDonald is in a class of his own.

Yuma was a showcase
This was perhaps the best qualifier that Yuma has hosted yet. The inclusion of San Diego teams and the adult Winter Classic made for a great tournament.
